São Paolo State Symphony Orchestra

Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 8 pm - $55/50

One of Brazil’s most exuberant treasures and cultural exports, the São paulo state symphony returns for its third U.S. tour this coming season. Hailed by the Los Angeles Times for its “impressive energy and precision,” the orchestra was cited as well by Gramophone Magazine in 2008 for its increasing international stature.

A rising star and protégé of James levine, Kazem Abdullah made his debut as an Assistant Conductor of the metropolitan opera in January, 2009.

The Grammy award-winning percussionist Evelyn Glennie, among today’s most innovative and respected musicians, makes her second appearance for Chromatics with a newly-commissioned concerto.
