The Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Ensemble was created in 1967 to perform the larger chamber works - from quintets to octets - with players drawn from the principal chairs of the Academy's world-renowned orchestra. Its touring commitments are extensive, with annual visits to France, Germany and Spain, in addition to frequent tours throughout North and South America and Asia. Over thirty critically-hailed CDs by the Chamber Ensemble have been released on the Philips Classics, Hyperion and Chandos labels.
